How to help sailors celebrate Christmas in Arlington Heights

Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights will host 50 sailors from Naval Station Great Lakes for a Christmas celebration, and they need the public's help to make the guests feel welcome.

As is tradition for the seventh annual event, volunteers and community members will line up along Ridge Avenue to cheer for the sailors as they arrive on buses. To join in, arrive at Christian Liberty, 502 Euclid Ave., by 9 a.m.

Because the sailors cannot go home for Christmas, organizers to their best to give them a celebration almost as good as home. It includes a full Christmas dinner; unlimited treats; free phone calls home all day; video games and TV (not allowed for them on base); and lots of well wishing.

The Christmas Dinner also is open to the public. It is served at noon and RSVP's are required to Bob Stack at stackrb@aol.com or (847) 567-4318.
