Pedestrian killed in Ingleside

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Ingleside Saturday evening, officials said.

Deputies were called to the area of Wilson Road and Rollins Road for a crash around 5:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Lake County's sheriff's office.

An 18-year-old woman from Lake Villa Township was driving a 2016 Jeep Patriot south on Wilson Road, south of Rollins Road, when she struck a pedestrian entering the roadway, the release said. The Jeep driver was not injured.

The pedestrian, who had no identification, was pronounced dead on the scene, the release said. The Lake County Coroner's Office is scheduling an autopsy.

The crash remains under investigation, and the 18-year-old woman is cooperating with police, the release said.
