Busy Brains Children's Museum asked to repay Lake Villa $50,000

The Busy Brains Children Museum in Lake Villa has been found in default of an incentive agreement with the village and will be asked to repay $50,000 within 90 days.

The village board Wednesday without comment unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the finding involving the not-for-profit organization that has been working to convert a vacant former car dealership on Cedar Avenue into a permanent home for the museum.

The $50,000 was used to replace the roof with the condition the museum be operating by Dec. 31, 2017. That agreement was extended to this past Dec. 1, but the deadline passed with several conditions remaining unmet. The museum board will meet next week to discuss what happens next.
