Believe Project: $100 to help brother with numerous medical needs

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Barbara Jentz of Barrington. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"Ralph is a 66-year-old Addison resident, a stroke survivor, a heart arrhythmia patient and my brother. He had a stroke in May 2017, recovered from it, and has paid thousands of dollars in the past two years for rehab, heart procedures, medicine, cardiologist and internal medicine doctor's appointments, and health insurance.

"He also needs a preventive eye exam to check his vision and cataracts, but he lacks money for it. He needs expensive dental extractions and dentures, but he lacks money for it. He does not own a car, so I drive him to his cardiologist's appointments.

"He works at a Walmart store and is helpful to customers. If I had $100 to give, I would give it to Ralph to pay for his medical expenses and improve his heart, eye and dental health.

"Thanks for kindly considering Ralph and his medical needs during this giving season!"

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in December to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
