Bartlett National Night Out earns first-place award

The Village of Bartlett earned first place for its 2018 National Night Out celebration, making it the seventh time since 2002 the village received that honor.

Bartlett was the only Illinois community to place in the top five within any of the National Night Out population categories, according to the village.

Thousands of Bartlett residents participated in the town's National Night Out Picnic in the Park on Aug. 7, as well as other lead-in events. Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, the events are intended to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and build police-community partnerships.

The village thanked the Bartlett Park District, the Bartlett Fire Protection District and all of the businesses, civic groups, volunteers and residents who contributed to the success of this year's celebration. The Bartlett Police Department will be presenting the first-place award to Village President Wallace and trustees at a future village board meeting.
