Prospect Hts. names Pufundt its Officer of the Year

Cpl. Mark Pufundt has been named the 2018 Prospect Heights Police Officer of the Year.

When not on patrol, the six-year department veteran provides firearms skill training and Rapid Deployment and Rescue Task Force training for the department. He also acts as the watch commander during the absence of a sergeant.

Pufundt has served as an Emergency Service Team member of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, after a rigorous selection process and ongoing training regimen which requires dedication and flexibility.

He's also volunteered many hours of service to the community through the Thanksgiving food drive, Community Open house, No Shave November cancer fundraiser and has raised donations for Special Olympics. "Corporal Pufundt has grown in prominence, popularity and influence in a Prospect Heights organization featuring many rising stars; but as a single individual, Corporal Pufundt contributions towards achieving the mission and goals of the department while embracing our core values clearly makes him an exceptional young police officer" said Chief Al Steffen.
