Morrison-Trevor discovery recount scheduled

The discovery recount in the narrow Tom Morrison-Maggie Trevor race for the 54th state House District is scheduled to take place over the course of three days next week.

The Cook County clerk's office will examine ballots in 19 of the district's 77 precincts beginning Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the clerk's elections operations center in Cicero, then continue over the next two days at the clerk's downtown Chicago offices. The recount will cover 16 precincts in Palatine Township, two precincts in Elk Grove Township and one in Wheeling Township, officials said.

Trevor, a Rolling Meadows Democrat, requested the abbreviated recount last week. She ultimately could decide to go to court to ask for a full recount. Morrison, the Republican incumbent from Palatine, has a 43-vote lead.
