Mundelein High concerts set for Dec. 12-13

Mundelein High School will host free concerts Wednesday, Dec. 12, and Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium, 135 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. Wednesday is the first performance of the year for the symphonic band and also the first time the freshman concert band will perform as an ensemble. The concert band's performance theme is "Music from Across America" featuring "Prairie Dances" by David Holsinger, "Alamo March" by Karl L. King and "Fantasy on Yankee Doodle" by Mark Williams. The symphonic band will perform a multimovement piece titled "Animal Krackers" by Christopher Tucker. On Thursday, the choirs and bands will collaborate on their annual Holiday Collage Concert. It will feature performances by two of the concert bands, several choirs, jazz ensemble and the percussion ensemble. The concert will begin with a joint mass choir and band selection, "Joyeux Noel" arranged by Douglas Wagner. The concert will conclude with "Hallelujah" by Georg Friedrich Handel.
