Holiday Happenings in downtown Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights' annual Holiday Happenings downtown event Friday, Dec. 7, will include two horse-drawn trolley rides, a petting zoo, carolers, and a special drone flyover to record a community holiday greeting.

The event runs 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Harmony Park, Campbell Street and Vail Avenue. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 5 p.m. via fire truck; at 6 p.m., Mayor Tom Hayes will lead a countdown and ask the crowd to hold fiber optic wands - which will be given away - in the air and say "Happy Holidays from Arlington Heights" as the drone flies over. The footage will be used for village marketing.

The event also will include an ice carving demo, selfies with a camel, sweet treat food vendors, and performances by the Rolling Meadows High School Madrigal singers and the Arlingtones. For details, visit vah.com.
