Police: Pair stole $1,600 in liquor from Bartlett store

Barlett police arrested two Chicago men Monday on allegations they attempted to steal about $1,600 in liquor from the Jewel-Osco store at 125 E. Stearns Road, authorities said Wednesday.

Christopher D. Lawson, 32, of the 7600 block of North Paulina Street, and Mitchell J. Ratliff Jr., 27, of the 2300 block of West Touhy Avenue, face felony charges of retail theft and burglary, police said. Ratliff also is charged with a misdemeanor for obstructing identification and was detained on three retail theft warrants out of Lake County, according to police.

They were arrested after officers responding to the store about 6 p.m. Monday were told the pair stole 49 bottles of liquor and were last seen leaving in a 2002 Toyota Solara west on Stearns Road. Police found the vehicle near the 1000 block of West Stearns Road a short time later and arrested the men.

They are scheduled to appear in DuPage County court on the charges Dec. 21.
