Winning images for the month of November of our weekly photo contest.
A photo of a hawk I took in my backyard. This hawk is the largest I have ever seen up close. I loved the way it was framed by the leaves and the branch and I loved the background colors which enhanced the photo.

I took this on November 4, 2018 of downtown Toronto. It's from my hotel room in Toronto.

The weather is getting cold again and it's time to go indoors again for our photography. Fortunately Brookfield Zoo has many indoor locations to try to capture the beauty of nature.

Just back from New York City where I spend hours photographing the buildings. I call this layers of N.Y.C.

Wacker Drive on a mild October evening. I took this photo from a rooftop last month and loved the hustle of the city on a Tuesday evening.
Jim DiOrio of St. Charles
Market Street bus stop in my brother Vic's lavish HO Scale masterpiece, The City Edge. The scope of his overall design implemented with such flawless execution can be difficult to fully appreciate in a photograph. A true piece of art.
Wayne Smith of Campton Hills
I went to take sunset photos tonight (Friday November 2) ... and the skies were beautiful. Then, there was a fisherman near me and he caught a fish. It took him a while to unhook the fish to throw him back. All of a sudden, dozens of Seagulls came flying around (hoping to eat the fish) ... I was so excited to capture the flying seagulls during a sunset. The fish safely went back into the lake.
Cindy Spudich of Lake Zurich
A young woman looks out from a tiny balcony to a courtyard of a 14th century residence in Verona, Italy. This very courtyard is famous for being the setting of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet. Even as I took this picture, I appreciated the romantic, literary and historical significance of the site.
Lynne Solway of Buffalo Grove
Breathtaking view of Manhattan from Jersey City, NJ!

On November 9, we had our first measurable snowfall in the Chicago area. I like this shot taken at Morton Arboretum in Lisle. In a single photo it shows both seasons -- the remaining fall colors on several trees, and a bare tree etched with winter's first snow.
Mike Weimer of St. Charles
I got to go to Springbrook Nature Center in Itasca and see the rescue birds of prey. This owl seemed right at home posing on a bale of straw with the pumpkins.
Adrianna Lesniak of Mundelein
While vacationing in the Mexican Rivera I witnessed this sunrise. Every morning provides a beautifully different scene as the sun comes up over the Caribbean Sea. This was taken on November 12, 2018.
Jim Huskey of Libertyville
This photo was taken in September at Karongwe Reserve in South Africa. We watched this cheetah eat his lunch of impala and then lick his lips. I liked the way he looked right at us and wondered what he was thinking.
Lou Wilson of St. Charles
A fiery sunset over Lake Zurich with beautiful reflections of color off the water.
