Monday was last day to file nominating papers for the April 2 election in Elgin, Aurora, North Aurora, Campton Hills and Elburn. Here is a look at the fields in those races.

Elgin

Elgin Mayor David Kaptain and Councilwoman Carol Rauschenberger filed to run for mayor.

Seven candidates are running for four, 4-year council seats: residents Dustin Good, Anthony Ortiz and Fred Moulton, and council members John Steffen, Rose Martinez, Tish Powell and Toby Shaw.

Residents Baldemar Lopez, Steve Thoren and Jerri McCue are running for a 2-year council seat to fill a vacancy.

Aurora

Twenty-two people have filed petitions for aldermanic seats.

Ward 3 Alderman Thedoros "Ted" Mesiacos will run unopposed.

Alderman Sherman Jenkins is seeking the at-large seat, as are Brooke Ann Shanley and Durrell Williams.

In Ward 1, Peter Aguilera, Emmanuel Llamas, Caryl Riley, Amanda Sperzel, Valerie Budach and Hugo Saltijeral are running.

Ward 5 candidates are Alderman Carl Franco, Casildo Cuevas and Bonnie Kunkel.

For Ward 6, Alderman Michael Saville, Matt Harrington, Dan Hites and Matthew J. Orr are running.

And in Ward 8, Patty Smith, Savannah Smith, Thomas Weil, John Robinson and Paul Santucci will face off.

The crowded fields in Ward 1 and Ward 8 will trigger a primary to narrow the fields in those two wards to four candidates in the April election.

North Aurora

Incumbent trustees Mark Guethle, Laura Curtis and Mark Gaffino filed petitions, as did resident Garran Sparks for three available seats.

Campton Hills

Trustee Mike Tyrrell is the only candidate for a four-year term as village president.

Trustees Wendy White Eagle and Susan George, along with residents Darlene Bakk and Rich Becker, are running for trustee.

Elburn

Nobody filed to have a partisan primary, which means candidates can file during the December filing period.
