6 years in prison for repeat Aurora child pornography offender

An Aurora man is headed back to prison after pleading guilty for a second time to felony child pornography possession

Harry I. Joslin, 32, of the 200 block of East New York Street, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty this week to one count of possession of child pornography of a child under 13, according to Kane County court records.

The felony carried a punishment range of four to 15 years in prison.

Joslin also pleaded guilty to one count of failure to report an address change as a sex offender.

Joslin was arrested in April 2018 after a 2½-month investigation that began around Feb. 14 when Google notified police that one of its users, based upon online activity, was in possession of child pornography, according to police and court records.

He also was charged with four additional counts of felony child pornography possession and one count of a sex offender communicating with believed minors online, a misdemeanor.

Those charges, which were less severe than the one count Joslin pleaded guilty to, were dismissed by prosecutors as part of Monday's guilty plea accepted by Judge D.J. Tegeler, records show.

This week's guilty plea was Joslin's second offense involving child pornography. He was arrested and charged in May 2014 with 20 felony counts of child pornography possession and one count of possession of a controlled substance. He pleaded guilty in January 2015 to one count of pornography possession and was sentenced to four years in prison, of which he served half under state law.

The remaining charges were dropped under the plea agreement, which also required lifetime registration as a sex offender, records show.

Joslin can have the most recent sentence also cut in half for good behavior in prison. He also gets credit for nearly seven months served at the Kane County jail while the case was pending and must pay $1,890 in court fees and fines, records show.
