Fire causes $250,000 damage to Tower Lakes house
An investigation continued Friday into the cause and origin of a fire that resulted in $250,000 damage to house in Tower Lakes.
One person suffered minor injuries and a dog was missing overnight after the fire, authorities said.
Firefighters from the Wauconda Fire Protection District were called to the 100 block of South Hills Drive at 9:06 p.m. Thursday for a fire in the upper level of a house, authorities said.
With the help of a Tower Lakes police officer, all residents and four dogs escaped the house before firefighters arrived on scene, authorities said.
One male resident was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. One dog, which could not immediately be located, was found alive in the woods Friday morning, authorities said.
Because of a lack of fire hydrants in the area, the blaze was upgraded to a mutual aid box to bring in more water and manpower.
The damage to the house is estimated at $250,000, authorities said.
Residents displaced by the fire stayed with a relative Thursday, authorities said.
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
Wauconda was assisted by multiple fire departments including Lake Zurich, Barrington, Countryside, McHenry, Buffalo Grove, Algonquin, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Fox Lake, Palatine Rural, Palatine, Lake Villa, Grayslake, Round Lake, Woodstock, Marengo, Spring Grove, Richmond, Deerfield, East Dundee, Crystal Lake, Cary. In addition, Tower Lakes police, the Lake County sheriff, and the MESS Canteen assisted at the scene.
