Snow causing problems with morning commute

The first snowfall of the season is causing a few problems on the morning commute.

Route 20 in Elgin was shut down early between McLean Boulevard and Route 31 due to icy conditions. According to Sigalert.com, the roadway has since reopened.

About 1-inch of snow is being reported in across most areas, according to the Community Collaborative Rain Snow and Hail Network, which measures daily precipitation reports across the country. Aurora in DuPage County and Gurnee in Lake County are reporting some spots that received up to 2-inches of snow.

The snow is expected to taper off later Friday morning.
