4 hospitalized after serious crash in Buffalo Grove

Emergency crews rescued two people trapped in their vehicles after a serious crash Wednesday night in Buffalo Grove, causing lanes of Milwaukee Avenue to be shut down for four hours, officials say.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue at Prague Avenue, just north of Lake-Cook Road, officials said.

Two people were taken to hospitals, while two others were trapped in separate vehicles, officials said. Once they were extricated, the remaining two people were taken to the hospital, officials said.

No information was available Wednesday night about the status of any people involved in the crash.

Investigators stayed on the scene for several hours, which caused all southbound lanes of Milwaukee Avenue from Johnson Drive to Lake-Cook Road to be closed until about 9 p.m., officials said.

Officials did not release information about the cause of the crash Wednesday night. Updates about the investigation will be provided as they are available, officials said.
