Bartlett man faces burglary, drug possession charges

An 18-year-old Bartlett man faces burglary, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass to vehicle and domestic battery charges stemming from his arrest Monday, police said.

Juan A. Vira, of the 100 block of Betty Court, was arrested about 7:40 p.m. Monday, after Bartlett police were called to Rita Court to investigate a report of a suspicious person inside a parked vehicle.

An officer searched the area and saw Vira walking on Judith Court, police said. Officers learned he had committed a domestic battery prior to the call on Rita Court and also had an outstanding warrant, according to police.

Following an investigation, police accused Vira of entering an unlocked 2011 Hyundai Elantra and taking money from an unlocked 2015 Toyota RAV4 on Rita Court, as well as that he was in possession of a controlled substance.

Vira was transported to the Cook County jail and was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. The outcome of that proceeding was not immediately available.
