Three Hoffman Estates trustees seeking re-election
Hoffman Estates' three village trustees whose terms will end in the spring - Anna Newell, Gary Pilafas and Gary Staton - have announced they will file next month for re-election in April 2019.
Newell and Pilafas are seeking their respective fourth terms while Stanton is pursuing his third. The offices of Mayor William McLeod and Clerk Beverly Romanoff are not up for election next year.
Because Hoffman Estates is one of the few municipalities in the area with the possibility of a Feb. 26 primary, its filing period is from Nov. 19 to 26. A primary would be triggered if the number of candidates exceeds four times the number of seats available - 13 candidates in Hoffman Estates' case.
Most elected boards' filing period for the April 2 general election is Dec. 10 to 17.
