Arlington Heights Elementary District 25 plans nearly $3 million in upgrades to schools and other capital improvement work next summer.

The projects, approved Oct. 18 by the school board, include a new playground at Patton Elementary, roofing restorations or replacements at South Middle School and Windsor and Westgate elementary schools, carpeting replacements in various buildings, and a replacement for the current district telephone system.

The budgeted amount for the capital projects totals $2,983,900, which will come out of the facilities department's yearly budget, officials said.
