Pumpkin carving at Schaumburg Park District

Family Pumpkin Carving will take place from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Schaumburg Park District's Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane in Schaumburg.

The event, for ages 1 to 14, includes a full-sized pumpkin for each child.

"We supply the pumpkin, designs and carving tools, so you can enjoy family time without the messy kitchen," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Neighborhood Center manager.

Children may choose to carve a traditional jack-o'-lantern or use the design templates to make their own unique creation.

Prizes will be awarded in various categories. Juice and snacks will be provided. An adult must be present with children at all times.

The event costs $15 per child for residents and $20 per child for nonresidents. For more information, call (847) 490-7020 or visit parkfun.com.
