Bartlett man who had drugs mailed to him pleads guilty

A 19-year-old Bartlett man who had drugs mailed to his Roselle post office box this year has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempting to manufacture or possess cannabis.

Kevin Mucha, of the 200 block of North Hale, has been sentenced to two years of court supervision and must perform 20 hours of community service at a nonprofit organization. He also must pay $1,127 in court costs.

Mucha originally was charged Aug. 29 with felony controlled substance trafficking and misdemeanor attempted possession of marijuana,

On July 2, Bartlett police executed a search warrant of a house on the 900 block of Foster Avenue. Police further investigated Mucha, who was at the house when the search occurred, and said they learned illegal drugs were being sent from California to his post office box in Roselle.

On July 19, Bartlett police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service executed search warrants on two suspicious packages sent to Mucha from California. Officers said they seized more than 100 grams of marijuana and 158 tablets of alprazolam, a sedative also known as Xanax.

Mucha was released from DuPage County jail after posting $2,500 bond.
