Bank robber strikes in Cary

A man robbed a US Bank branch in Cary about 2 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Cary Police Department.

Police said the man handed a note to a teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of money. The man didn't display or imply a gun, the news release said, and there were no injuries.

The man, described as white and about 35 years old, was wearing a black hat, a gray jacket, black pants and a light tan backpack. He was last seen walking south from the bank at 25 W. Main St. and later might have been in a black Ford Edge headed toward Barrington, authorities said.

The Cary Police Department and the FBI are investigating.
