Birders invited to Big Sit

Birders are invited to bring a lawn chair and binoculars to The Big Sit from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Powers-Walker House at Glacial Park in Ringwood. Adults and kids are invited to spot and count all the bird species they see or hear for as little or as long as they like. The Big Sit is an international event in which bird watchers create 17-foot diameter circles and tally the birds they identify. Fifty-eight species of birds were counted at McHenry County's Big Sit in 2017. Take Harts Road west off Route 31 just south of Richmond and follow the signs. Binoculars and bird field guides will be available to share. Visit hackmatacknwr.org.
