Suspect in custody after bank robbery in Elmhurst

A suspect is in custody following a Saturday morning bank robbery in Elmhurst, police said.

The Elmhurst Police Department announced on its social media accounts that a man entered the Bank of America, 205 N. Addison, at 10:41 a.m. and announced a robbery.

A weapon was implied but not displayed during the robbery, according to police. The offender then fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash.

Elmhurst police located the suspect at I-290 and Van Buren Street in Chicago. They took him into custody with the help of Chicago police officers.

FBI officials on Saturday afternoon confirmed that a suspect is in federal custody. They said more details will be available when the suspect is charged.
