Authorities: Lake County man pointed shotgun at deputies over loud TV complaint

A Lake County man is facing a disorderly conduct charge after authorities say he pointed a shotgun toward sheriff's deputies responding to a complaint his television was too loud early Tuesday morning.

Frank D. Frano, 58, of the 36900 block of North Terry Drive East in Lake Villa Township, was arrested when he surrendered to authorities after speaking with a Lake County Sheriff's Office negotiator, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies were called to his home about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday by a neighbor who said Frano's television was playing so loudly it could be heard across the street, authorities said.

Deputies knocked on the door, announced themselves and saw Frano on a chair in the living room, according to the sheriff's office. After several minutes of Frano not responding to the knocking, he left the living room, returned a short time later armed with a shotgun and pointed it toward the door. He then charged the weapon, as if loading a round into the chamber, authorities said.

The deputies retreated and told Frano to put the shotgun down. A negotiator later reached Frano by phone and persuaded him to come out unarmed, sheriff's police said.

Frano was taken to the county jail and later released on a $1,500 recognizance bond. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 22.
