Charity walk in Busse Woods helps make wishes come true

The damp and cool weather Sunday wasn't anything you would hope for when it comes to an outdoor walk for charity, but plenty of other wishes are going to come true thanks to those who marched in the morning's Walk for Wishes Chicagoland to benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois.

Held at Busse Woods near Elk Grove Village, the walk brought together hundreds from across the suburbs and Chicago to help fulfill the life-changing wishes of children with critical illnesses.

Officials from Make-A-Wish Illinois said the event is the largest walk they host every year. They hoped to raise about $250,000 from the walk, making it one of the organization's largest fundraisers, second only to its formal gala in May.
