Energy assistance program in Lake County

Grants for heating bills through the federally-funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) will be available Oct. 1 for seniors over 60 and households with someone receiving disability. To qualify, households must have income equal to or less than 150 percent of the poverty level. A single-person household can qualify with a gross monthly income of up to $1,518, for example, and, a four-person household $3,138. Beginning Nov. 1, families with children age 5 or under and households whose service is on Imminent Disconnect or has been disconnected may apply. All low-income households can apply Dec. 1. Call the Community Action Partnership of Lake County (847) 249-4330 for a required appointment. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served through May 31, 2019.
