John Grisham coming to Downers Grove for Anderson's Bookshop event

Best-selling author John Grisham will visit the suburbs next month to present his latest novel, "The Reckoning," during an event sponsored by Anderson's Bookshop.

The program, which includes a book talk, Q&A and conversation, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the historic Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave., in Downers Grove.

It will be the first time Grisham participates in an Anderson's Bookshop program.

Grisham is the author of 30 novels, one work of nonfiction, a collection of stories, and six novels for young readers.

Legal thrillers, starting with "A Time to Kill" in 1988, have led to a parade of blockbusters including "The Firm," "Pelican Brief" and "The Client." Many of Grisham's stories have been brought to the big screen.

Set in 1946 Mississippi, Grisham's latest book tells the story of the shocking murder of a pastor and the trial that follows.

Grisham's visit will be moderated by Chicago author Scott Turow, who has written 10 novels and two nonfiction books. Tickets are available at JohnGrishamAndersons.brownpapertickets.com.
