Elgin man charged with theft of camera, having stolen Jeep in Bartlett
Authorities charged an 18-year-old Elgin man with possession of a stolen vehicle and burglary stemming from separate crimes in Bartlett last week.
Semon O. Dunn of the 800 block of Carol Avenue is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle by the DuPage County state's attorney's office, while the charge for burglary was filed by the Cook County state's attorney's office. Both charges are felonies.
Bartlett police said officers were sent to the 800 block of West Country Drive on Monday, Aug. 20, after a report that an unlocked 2006 Jeep Liberty had been stolen from a residential driveway during the overnight hours.
Police later responded to a report that a Canon Rebel digital camera had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 300 block of Bryce Court on Friday.
After an investigation that also involved Elgin, Pingree Grove and Hampshire police, Bartlett officers arrested Dunn on the two charges Friday. Police also recovered the stolen vehicle and camera, authorities said.
Dunn was taken to the DuPage County jail in Wheaton to await a bond hearing. Information on that hearing was not immediately available Monday.
