Aurora police investigating two Sunday shootings

Police in Aurora say they're investigating two separate shootings that happened within 25 minutes of each other Sunday and left two men hurt.

The first shooting happened around 12:50 a.m. in the 400 block of Montgomery Road, police said. The victim, a 25-year-old Rockford man, told police he was sitting with a group of men when he heard shots ring out and realized he'd been hit. Acquaintances took him to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest that was not life-threatening.

The second shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue. A 28-year-old Chicago man who was shot in the hip told police he was outside a residence when he saw a man pull out a handgun and fire at him before continuing to walk southbound.

The second victim was also taken to the hospital by acquaintances, and his injury was not considered life-threatening.

Police are asking anyone with information about either shooting to contact investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
