Aurora man arrested, accused of stealing underwear

A 26-year-old Aurora man was arrested after police said he broke into a near East Side home Wednesday and stole two pairs of women's underwear.

Uriel Cardenas, of the 800 block of Lebanon Street, forced his way into the home in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue while the 31-year-old homeowner was still inside, Aurora police said. After hearing a crash and noises that indicated someone was in the house, the homeowner locked herself and two children in a bedroom and called 911.

Just as officers were arriving, they spotted Cardenas running from the home and toward his vehicle parked a few houses down, police said.

Police took Cardenas into custody and said they found underwear, which the victim later identified as hers, inside the vehicle. Nothing else was taken from the residence.

Cardenas is currently being held in Kane County jail.
