Join in the fun at Grayslake Summer Days Aug. 17-18

The Grayslake Chamber of Commerce and Industry will present the annual Summer Days festival on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17 and 18, at Center and Whitney streets in downtown Grayslake.

Festival hours are 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and noon to midnight Saturday.

Summer Days features activities for the whole family, featuring music, carnival games, food vendors, a bingo tent and a business booth area.

Musical performances include DeeGuize at 6 p.m., Total Recall — Chicago at 8 p.m. and Modern Day Romeos at 10 p.m. Friday; and Slam Funk at 3:30 p.m., Svelte Bobby and the Soulfixers at 5 p.m., Exit 147 at 8 p.m. and 7th heaven at 10 p.m. Saturday.

Saturdays also features two parades. The Bike and Pet Parade will step off at noon Saturday, sponsored by the Exchange Club of Grayslake. The Summer Days Parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, with the theme “Celebrating the Illinois Bicentennial in Grayslake.” The parade will line up at Grayslake Central High School.

Guests are also invited to stop by the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum at 164 Hawley Street on Saturday; the heritage center will also have a tent at the festival where visitors can make toy boats to go with a lake exhibit.

Go-kart races will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Seymour Avenue parking lot across from the Grayslake village hall. The public are invited to build their own go-karts to race. For details, visit www.foundation46.org.

A Bags Tournament will be held at noon Saturday; proceeds will benefit the Booster Clubs of Grayslake Central and Grayslake North High School.
