6 injured, 2 vehicles in flames after I-88 crash near Naperville
Six people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-88 Saturday near Naperville that also left two of the cars engulfed in flames, officials said.
None of the injuries are life-threatening, according to Sgt. Kevin McGrenera of Illinois State Police District 15.
Police were called to the scene around 6 p.m. after a black Hyundai failed to reduce speed and struck a silver Chrysler going east on I-88 near Route 59, police said. The Hyundai then struck a black Mustang, and they both caught fire.
The Naperville and Aurora fire departments took six people to Edward Hospital in Naperville, McGrenera said.
While the fire was being extinguished, the westbound lanes of the tollway were shut down for 40 minutes, while the eastbound lanes were closed for more than an hour. All lanes were reopened around 7:35 p.m.
