North Aurora man charged with illegal weapon possession in Aurora
A North Aurora man faces felony charges after he was found with an illegally possessed handgun in his car, police said.
Kendall Peoples-Bates, 26, was driving near the intersection of Sullivan Road and Ohio Street in Aurora about 6:30 p.m. Monday when police ran his license plate and found he was wanted on a warrant, authorities said.
Police didn't immediately respond to requests for comment as to what the warrant was for.
Two officers stopped Peoples-Bates and searched his car, where they found a loaded .25-caliber handgun under the front seat, police said.
Peoples-Bates, who didn't have a valid FOID card or a concealed carry license, was charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to police.
