Annual Summer Celebration a hit in Vernon Hills

Vernon Hills Summer Celebration, one of Lake County's largest annual festivals, continued Saturday with a heapin' helpin' of food, rides, country music and other attractions.

Besides food, beer, bingo and carnival rides, visitors Saturday enjoyed a car and bike show that this year included motorcycles. There was also kiddie corner featuring the high-energy trivia of Howard from A to Z Entertainment, Canadian country music sensations the James Barker Band and headliner David Nail.

The final day of the festival is Sunday, when it runs from 1 to 7 p.m. The sixth annual bags tournament is 2 to 5 p.m. and Vernon Hills Idol Karaoke is scheduled for 5 to 6:30 p.m.
