Crystal Lake man charged with 11 counts of child pornography possession

A Crystal Lake man faces a slew of felony charges after police say he was caught with child pornography.

Police in Crystal Lake said the Illinois attorney general's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force first notified them that Anthony T. Franklin, 37, was in possession of child pornography. That tip sparked an investigation by police, who served a search warrant at Franklin's residence in the 500 block of Somerset Lane in Crystal Lake, officials said.

Police say they found child pornography while searching Franklin's apartment. He was arrested and charged with 11 counts of child pornography possession, authorities said.

Four of the most serious charges involve either the distribution or intent to distribute child pornography.

Franklin is being held in the McHenry County Jail and is due in court Tuesday.
