Maine West High School getting two interim principals
Maine Township High School District 207 has hired two educators to serve as interim principals at Maine West High School in Des Plaines after the retirement of Audrey Haugan.
The school board voted to hire Marina Scott and Maria Ward to share duties as interim principals during the upcoming school year.
Scott was principal at Libertyville High School from 2009 to 2017 and worked as an associate superintendent in the school district. She worked in Schaumburg High School District 211 for 25 years.
Ward has been an educational consultant for suburban district since 2011, including District 207. She was the principal of Downers Grove North High School from 2005 to 2011 and principal of Glenbard East High School in Lombard from 2001 to 2005.
"Once we knew of Dr. Haugan's decision to retire, we immediately reached out to Maria and Marina," Superintendent Ken Wallace said in a news release. "Both of these women are highly skilled and accomplished leaders who already have established relationships with District 207."
Scott and Ward each agreed to 100-day employment contracts paying $100,000. They will arrange schedules to cover the 185-day school year.
