Driver hospitalized after hitting tree in Arlington Heights

A driver who struck a tree had to be cut from her vehicle Friday evening in Arlington Heights, firefighters said.

Firefighters said the woman, who was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, was driving a small SUV east on Algonquin Road between Arlington Heights and Goebbert roads around 6:45 p.m. when her vehicle left the road. According to police, it appears she had a medical emergency before the crash and had been driving erratically.
