Community Unit School District 300 is seeking donations and school supplies for its annual "Stuff the Bus" drive benefiting homeless students July 28.

The event is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walmart, 1410 S. Randall Road in Algonquin, next to Algonquin Commons. A school bus will be stationed in the parking lot collecting donations and school supplies to support students in need who will attend District 300 schools this fall.

Requested donations include: folders, notebooks, loose leaf paper, pencils, pens, scissors, glue sticks, rulers, crayons, colored pencils, Post-it notes, markers, 3.5-inch notecards, and gender neutral backpacks. Donations will be organized by district officials, placed inside individual backpacks, and distributed to students in need.

Community members who would like to help but are unable to attend the "Stuff the Bus" event can drop off donations at the District 300 Central Office front desk, 2550 Harnish Drive, Algonquin between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Checks made out to "CUSD 300" can be mailed to: Education Services, District 300 Central Office, 2550 Harnish Drive, Algonquin, 60102. Those sending checks are encouraged to write "Stuff the Bus" in the check's memo line.
