Boxers pull no punches at charity event in Wauconda

Pugilists of varying talent hit the ring Friday night in Wauconda for a charity boxing tournament dubbed Badges Versus Bad Guys.

Staged at the Golden Oaks Rodeo Grounds, the event was organized by the Lake County Athletic and Boxing Club.

"It's cool to have an outdoor event at the rodeo. It's different. It's a cool sporting event for anyone," said boxing promoter Larry Lentz.

Proceeds will help fund scholarships for kids in sports programs in Lake and Cook counties.

The 55th annual Wauconda Rodeo will be held at the same site Saturday and Sunday. For tickets or more information, visit waucondarodeo.com.
