Arrest made after chase, crash and robbery

The pursuit of a stolen vehicle that began at 8 a.m. Friday in Hoffman Estates ended with the driver under arrest at I-90 and Route 20 arfter a crash and a robbery, according to Illinois State Police.

A trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for multiple traffic violations on westbound I-90, police said. The driver fled, sideswiping the patrol car, according to a news release.

The vehicle was located later by Boone County sheriff's deputies at a bank near I-90 after it was involved in a robbery. The vehicle was stopped by state police when it got back to I-90 and Route 20, and the driver was taken into custody. The vehicle had been stolen in a carjacking in Chicago, police said.

Police said charges are pending in multiple jurisdictions and the investigation is continuing. The identity of the driver was not released.
