Aurora cops hunting for con men who robbed 88-year-old woman

Aurora police are searching for two con men who stole a "substantial amount of money" from an 88-year-old woman around 1 p.m. Tuesday on the 1400 block of Beau Ridge Drive.

Police say one of the men came to the woman's door and told her he was there to make repairs. When the woman took him to the backyard to talk about what needed fixing, a second person entered the house and took the money.

When the woman became suspicious, she went back inside and looked out the living room window to see the suspect's truck speeding off. When she returned to the backyard, the first man was gone.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s standing about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He has short, salt-and-pepper hair. The woman could not describe the second person.

The vehicle was described as a black, full-size Ford or Chevy pickup truck with an extended bed, full cab and dark tinted back windows.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call police at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
