Algonquin man gets 26 years in prison for sex abuse of three children

An Algonquin man will spend more than two decades in prison after pleading guilty to charges he sexually abused three girls, McHenry County authorities said Tuesday.

Richard Lampp, 58, received a 26-year sentence as part of a plea deal accepted Friday by McHenry County Judge James Cowlin. Under the terms of the negotiated plea, Lampp admitted to a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child involving a minor under the age of 13 in 2016. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving two victims under the age of 13 in 2014.

As part of the agreement, county prosecutors dismissed 10 counts of child pornography filed against Lampp in April.

Under state law, Lampp must serve 85 percent of the sentence, or about 22 years. When released, he will have to register as a lifetime sex offender.
