Schaumburg's oldest McDonald's seeks upgrade

The oldest free-standing McDonald's in Schaumburg is seeking permission for an upgrade.

The 40-year-old restaurant at 775 E. Algonquin Road, just west of the redeveloping former Motorola Solutions campus, is asking the village for a special-use permit for a second drive-through and variations for new landscaping and signs.

The interior would get new seating, finishes and an order counter. The outside would receive a complete overhaul to meet McDonald's new corporate branding requirements.

The changes would cause the restaurant to expand 22.5 square feet and lose approximately 27 parking spaces, but still have a surplus of 30 spaces.

The village board will vote on the requested permit at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at 101 Schaumburg Court in Schaumburg.
