Wauconda library officials seeking to fill board vacancy

Nearly three months after the death of Wauconda Area Library board President Terry Stevig, officials are seeking to fill his seat on the seven-member panel.

Stevig, 71, of Wauconda, died in April after suffering a heart attack. He was a library trustee for more than 36 years, serving the last four as the panel's president.

It's up to the remaining six trustees to choose someone to replace Stevig on the board. The eventual appointee will serve until after the spring 2019 election but can run for the post at that time.

Applications are due Aug. 9. The board will schedule interviews with applicants in September, and officials hope to appoint a new trustee at the Oct. 8 board meeting.

Applicants must be district residents and registered voters.

Online applications and downloadable applications are available at wauclib.org.

Paper applications also are available at the library's checkout desk.

Paper applications should be returned to: Library Director Tom Kern, Wauconda Area Library, 801 N. Main St., Wauconda, Illinois, 60084.
