The show goes on for Wauconda Fest
Carnival rides stood motionless after rain poured all day Thursday, but the party didn't stop at Wauconda Fest.
Local restaurants served food under the protection of a large tent, and music moved inside to entertain festivalgoers at Cook Park.
The first day also featured blues and rock guitarist Anthony Gomes, bingo sponsored by the American Legion, and wine and craft beer tasting.
"Starting off on a rainy start, our goal was to try and keep it open, what we could, for our residents," said Wauconda Festival Committee member Nancy Burton. "There are no carnival rides due to safety reasons because of all the rain that we had. But Saturday and Sunday look good."
Friday's events, which start at 5 p.m., include entertainment by Boy Band Night and Modern Day Romeos.
The weekend will include kids water fights, bingo, a car show, an arts and craft fair, and a bags tournament.
