District 211 mentor program wins $10,000 grant

A program launched in 2013 to help Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 graduates find success in college has been awarded a $10,000 matching grant from Scholarship American.

Excel Beyond 211 will use the funding for its efforts to provide low-income, "first-in-their-families to college" students with financial support and mentoring to increase their ability to graduate in four years.

The grant from Scholarship America will match an equal amount raised by Excel Beyond 211 to provide deserving students the opportunity to receive financially impactful, renewable scholarships.

This is the third national award for Excel Beyond 211 in the past two years.
