District 63 hires new director of special services

East Maine School District 63 has hired a new director of special services.

The school board Thursday agreed to hire Vasiliki Vourvahis Frake, who currently is the assistant director of student services for Park Ridge-Niles School District 64. She will begin July 1.

Superintendent Scott Clay said that Frake's approach to special education fits well with the district's commitment to inclusiveness and helping students reach their potential.

"Ms. Frake brings a wealth of expertise - garnered at top-notch area school districts - to our special services department," Clay said in a Friday news release.
