District 47 board appoints STEM education director

The Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 school board this week appointed Carolyn Stadlman as the district's new director of math, science and STEM effective July 1.

Stadlman has been the assistant principal at Hannah Beardsley Middle School since August 2015. She previous served as an elementary principal in Antioch Elementary District 34 for five years and a general education and English Language Learner resource teacher in Mundelein Elementary District 75 for seven years.

"Carolyn has a strong passion for curriculum and instruction," said Scott Kubelka, District 47 assistant superintendent of student learning. "She is student-centered, collaborative and a hard worker."

Stadlman has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Trinity International University, a master's degree in curriculum, technology and education reform from the University of Illinois, and a master's degree in administration and leadership from Benedictine University in Lisle. She is pursuing a doctorate in curriculum and instruction through Aurora University.

She is a member of the College of Lake County TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc.) advisory committee.

"What I look forward to most in this new role is the opportunity for collaboration and working alongside our teachers and administrators for the benefit of our students," she said.
