Pedestrian struck, killed in Harvard

The McHenry County coroner's office is investigating the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle in Harvard Thursday evening.

Ronald L. Jacobs Sr., 69, of Harvard, was pronounced dead at 10:11 p.m. Thursday, and an autopsy Friday revealed that he died of blunt trauma of the chest, according to the coroner.

The collision occurred around 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of North Division Street and East Front Street. The crash is also being investigated by Harvard police and the McHenry County sheriff's department.
